Serbian Minister of Labor Zoran Djordjevic announced that a team would be formed consisting of the most eminent people who should help the government by proposing measures for keeping the young from leaving the country, but also for bringing back those who had left, Tanjug reports.

The minister said this commenting on the new German law on immigration, which will facilitate the employment of citizens from other states, including those outside the EU, which, among other things, creates the possibility of Serbian citizens leaving for Germany in considerable numbers.

– The plan is to form a team of the most competent people in the state when it comes to this issue. The team will be formed within the Sector for Labor on January 1, 2019, and consist of people from the Serbian Academy of Arts and Sciences, faculties, universities, NGOs, the NALED, unions, the Serbian Association of Employers... in order to help the government come up with certain measures and find a way to adapt to the new conditions – Djordjevic said.

Djordjevic said that he didn't have precise data on how many people had left for Germany, as many left without it being registered, whereas fewer people left through agencies, not just for Germany, but for other countries as well.

Let us remind that the German law on the immigration of workforce from other states, including those outside the EU, will come into effect on January 1, 2020. The Association of Independent and Free Trade Unions of Serbia estimates that Serbia would lose 200,000 workers, mostly medical doctors, medical technicians, professional drivers and craftsmen of all profiles.
