Members of the Assembly of Vojvodina adopted the budget for 2019 of RSD 74.4 billion on December 20, with 71 votes for and 17 against.

The proposition of the Decision on the Budget previously said that it was around RSD 13 billion more in 2016, when the current Provincial Government was formed, and RSD 1.34 billion more compared to the rebalanced budget for 2018. The budget is planned with the principle of “maintaining the achieved share of capital expenditures”.

During the presentation of the budget, it was said that the majority of the funds from the budget would once again be meant for investments in infrastructure and healthcare and economy and agriculture, and that the capital part of the budget was planned in the amount of RSD 19.3 billion.

The most important investment planned within the budget include investments in waste water treatment facilities in Backa Topola, Mali Idjos and Srbobran, the construction of a student cultural center, the reconstruction of the Heterlend complex near Novi Becej, the procurement of ten vehicles for the transport of dialysis patients, the co-financing of two accelerators and the adaptation of the space for their storage at the Institute for Oncology in Sremska Kamenica, the adaptation of the “Isidora Sekulic” Gymnasium in Novi Sad and the e-government project.

Investments in ongoing projects will continue, such as the construction and the equipping of RTV Vojvodina, the adaptation of the National Theater in Subotica, the completion of the works on the Zezelj Bridge, the construction of the Szentendre Road in Novi Sad, the expansion of features at the thermal pools in Palic and the further investments in healthcare infrastructure and the preservation of cultural heritage.

Investments in the same or increased amount will continue in the fields of education, culture, information and sports, as well as in the realization of national minority rights, it was said at the presentation.
