Potential foreign investments of EUR 100 million in Zajecar
Nearly everything concerning the opening of a 40,000-m2 facility, worth around EUR 35 million, has been agreed with the British company Aptiv Packard, one of the world’s leading producers of electrical and electronic car components. Around 1,000 workers should be employed initially, and after the production develops, another 1,500 should be employed. The company employs nearly 200,000 people worldwide.
The Italian giant De Longhi, one of the world’s leading producers of small household appliances, intends to move the production from a neighboring country to Zajecar, where they want to make a center for Southeast Europe, and around 2,000 workers should be employed in this facility worth around EUR 40 million.
The German store chain Lidl has already obtained a parcel for its facility in Zajecar, worth around EUR 3 million, where 50 workers should be employed. The facility would be located in close proximity to the retail park being built by the British Poseidon Group.
The British group intends to open a shopping center, worth around EUR 15 million, which would feature the world’s largest brands, and around 500 workers should be employed there. Poseidon Group has already bought the land and started building its retail park, which should open in mid-2019.
Finally, a settlement is being raised at Kraljevica, an area in Zajecar, for the 1,000 workers of Russia’s Gazprom who will stay there during the construction of the TurkStream gas pipeline section from Vrska Cuka to Paracin. Under the agreement, following the construction of this mini-town, all the facilities will be handed over to Zajecar.
