The City of Novi Sad is not giving up on solving the crisis in Apoteka Novi Sad, as confirmed by the fact that the government’s commission has greenlit the project of a concession agreement for the city pharmacy. The proposition should be put before the members of the City Assembly of Novi Sad in around ten days.

Mayor Milos Vucevic stated that the project had been presented to the Government of Serbia’s commission for public-private partnerships and concessions and that the commission had given a positive opinion.

As Vucevic explained, the proposition is for the city to keep the pharmacies in those parts of the city where private pharmacies are not present. One of the propositions will be for the city to remain the owner of the Galenic Laboratory.

In early 2018, the proposition was for the problem to be solved through a PPP. According to this plan, adopted by the City Assembly of Novi Sad, the private partner was supposed to take over the management rights for a period of 10 years, in the ratio of 66.6% to 33.3%, and settle the pharmacy’s obligations towards the suppliers and the employees.

One of the problems are the layoffs. Due to the decision of the Ministry of Health on the reduction of the number of workers, they only have 60 employees. This has led to the shortening of work hours.

Apoteka Novi Sad is the biggest health institution in Vojvodina, supplying the citizens of Novi Sad and other places in the area.
