Tendering for designing of new Danube bridge in Novi Sad starts
The construction of this bridge is not planned before mid-2020s, whereas other estimates place it in 2030. The estimated value of the construction equals up to three annual budgets of the City of Novi Sad, that is, around 50 to 60 million euros, not counting the access routes, so the question of funding remains open. Let us remind that the new road and rail bridge in the location of the former Zezelj Bridge and the reconstruction of the Freedom Bridge were financed thanks to donations by international institutions and with the help of the Republic of Serbia and the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina.
So far, the new bridge has always been planned to resemble the Freedom Bridge, but the Directorate for Building Land and Investments is now asking candidates to change the design so that it doesn’t resemble any existing bridge in Novi Sad.
The documentation says that the bridge will have four lanes, two in each direction, from the Fisher Island to the Srem side, and six lanes, three in each direction, between the Fisher Island and the Backa side. The bridge will feature a median strip down its entire length, with pedestrian and bicycle lanes on each side. The entire bridge will be 30 to 37 meters wide.
At the Backa end, the bridge will connect to the yet-to-be-built branch of Evrope Blvd, whereas, at the Srem end, it will connect to Karadjordjeva Street and state road 119 (Croatia-Beocin-Sremska Kamenica).
The access routes will connect the new bridge to the planned extensions of Despota Stefana Blvd, 1.300 kaplara Street and Sime Matavulja Street, as well as the Fisher Island and Kamenicka Ada.
The tender has been evaluated at RSD 20.8 million.
