At the session of the City Assembly of Belgrade to be held on Wednesday, November 14, the agenda will feature, among other items, the decision on the establishment of a public bicycle transport system in the city, which will create the possibility of installing rent-a-bike stations and the establishment of a network in the city modeled after other capitals in Europe.

Citizens will thereby be able to rent a bicycle by showing the ID card and ride for free for the first half an hour and then leave it at another station.

– We will continue developing bicycle transport in the city. When we started this project, we had 80 kilometers of bicycle lanes, which were not in a great condition. We have managed to reconstruct a large number of them and build another 20 kilometers, and the plan is to build another 100 kilometers in the next three years – said Nikola Nikodijevic, the president of the City Assembly of Belgrade.

According to him, around 1% of the populace uses bicycles, and the authorities want to have 5% use this means of transportation in the next few years.
