VTB Banka a.d. Beograd renamed as API Bank

VTB Banka, which was bought on July 25, 2018, by the Russian banker and investor Andrey Shlyakhovoy, has been renamed as API Bank (full name: API Bank a.d. Beograd).

API Banka plans to keep developing its international business in the upcoming period through strengthening business connections with European, Russian and Asian financial markets, the bank announced.

The bank will continue operating as a universal bank with a wide portfolio of banking products with a special focus on crediting corporate clients, documentary business, international payment transactions and forex. One of API Banka's priorities will be to upgrade and develop on-line services and services for corporate and retail clients.

API Banka values its clients highly and will continue fostering and providing personalized access for each individual client. Client identification, account numbers and signed contracts remain unchanged. The existing payment cards remain valid until the stated expiration date.

In the first nine months of 2018, the bank had a profit of RSD 85 million, its total assets amount to RSD 11 billion, and the capital adequacy ratio is 22.13%, far above the proscribed percentage.


Andrey Shlyakhovoy, a shareholder and the chairman of the Managing Board, says that the bank has a great basis for the continuation of its business, as the interest of foreign investors in this region has been growing in the past few years.

– I believe that the implementation of modern technologies is an important incentive for the Serbian economy and the financial sector in Serbia. With a new name and a strengthened team, API Bank will focus on developing innovative digital solutions for international business, as well as on providing a single digital service platform which our clients will be able to access wherever they are – Shlyakhovoy said.
