The export of first quantities of wheat from Serbia to Egypt, the country which is the largest global wheat importer, should begin in December of the current year or in January 2019, the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management, Branislav Nedimovic announced today.

The Minister said that for the first time in 30 years the country would be able to export wheat to Egypt since Serbia received a certificate for export and added that the importer is expect to carry out the inspection of the storage capacities during the last week of November and the beginning of December.

The Minister stated that Serbia has two million tons of wheat for export considering the crop yield was excellent this year and added that Egypt was looking for high-quality grains.

He said that the fact that the Russian president had to go to Egypt to sign one such contract back in the day showed how much of a big deal the export of wheat to Egypt was.

Nedimovic said that, similarly, Serbia was developing plans to export corn to China and Indonesia.
