Fair of Environmental and Natural Resource Protection in Belgrade opens – State completes negotiation strategy for Chapter 27
As reported on the website of the Government of Serbia, Trivan pointed out that the competent ministry had completed the negotiation strategy for Chapter 27, concerning ecology, and that he hoped that the negotiations would start soon.
When it comes to the impact of the electrical energy system on the environment, the minister praised the PE Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS), which has already invested EUR 300 million in ecology and which plans to invest more than EUR 800 million by 2025.
The minister called this a good example and said that everyone should make their contribution to the protection of the environment.
The acting director of EPS, Milorad Grcic, emphasized that all projects in the domain of increasing and modernizing the capacities of the electrical energy system were being realized in compliance to the highest standards.
He announced that, in the upcoming period, special attention will be paid to investments in the hydro-sector, but also in the sector of renewable energy sources, especially wind power.
State Secretary at the Ministry of Mining and Energy, Stevica Dedjanski, said that, after three decades of stagnation, an investment cycle had been initiated to the end of providing energy security, which is of strategic importance for Serbia.
According to him, Serbia is secure when it comes to energy, and the initiated investment cycle, worth over EUR 3 million, which will last until 2025, will contribute to it as well.
Energy efficiency has been recognized as the future of Serbia, and by 2020, we will have 500 MW from RES within our network, Dedjanski said.
ECOFAIR and the Energy Fair will last until October 5 at the Belgrade Fair, under the slogan “The Power of Nature”.
Traditionally, the Ministry of Environmental Protection is the sponsor of ECOFAIR, which brings together representatives of state organs and institutions, business entities, professional and non-governmental organizations and the media for the purpose of mutual connecting, exchange of knowledge and experiences and establishing closer cooperation in reaching environmental protection goals in national and international frameworks.
On this occasion, the ministry will present the most current activities and projects in environmental protection and organize panels dedicated to the most important ecological topics within the accompanying program at the fair.
