Belgrade subway to cross Sava by tunnel, not by bridge?
– This is a quite realistic option which is currently present in the feasibility study which is being prepared by the French company Egis – Belgrade City Architect Milutin Folic told Blic.
This is an entirely new feature when it comes to the Belgrade Subway project.
– All options are being considered, but I believe that the tunnel has the advantage at the moment. It would stretch from the Sava Square, beneath the future museum, that is, the former Main Railway Station building, the traffic routes within the Belgrade Waterfront, and then beneath the river to Zorana Djindjica Blvd – Folic explained.
The French company Egis is already setting the routes, the stops and the crossings with other forms of transport in the capital of Serbia.
– We hope that everything will be completed by the end of the year, so that the plans would be adopted by the end of 2019 and that the first works could start in 2020 on the simplest sections, when it comes to property and expropriation – Folic added.
There will be no changes when it comes to the number of lines, nor the terminals. The first line should go from Makisko Polje, that is, the intersection of the Obrenovac and the Zeleznik roads, through Banovo Brdo to the Belgrade Fair... As Blic reports, there's another dilemma there, related to Prokop.
– There's an option for the subway to continue directly to the Sava Square, as planned earlier, but also an option of having it redirected to Prokop – Folic revealed.
