Serbia and Germany to found round table for innovations, digitalization, research and science
Representatives of the two countries from state institutions, the industry, the economy, chambers, academic institutions and other structures relevant to the stimulation of economic development would be included.
Popovic and Wittke agreed that the bilateral round table could grow into a wider regional initiative in the future.
Following the meeting at the German Ministry of Economic Affairs, Popovic said that they had talked about Serbia’s being an engine for the gathering of the countries of the Balkans within this initiative, whereas Germany would be in charge of bringing together EU member states.
He announced that, immediately after returning to Serbia, he would start an initiative for the founding of this structure with German partners.
Popovic expressed his conviction that the initiative would contribute to the strengthening of the innovation capacities and the digitalization of the Serbian industry and small and medium enterprises, as well as an increase in the employment rate and salaries in Serbia.
During his official visit to Germany, the minister will visit InnoTrans, the leading international transport technology show.
Each year, on 200, 000 square meters, the show presents innovations in rail technologies, infrastructure, public transport, interior design and tunnel construction.
During his visit to the event, Popovic will meet with the management of Siemens and Serbian exhibitors.
