First phase of Chinese-Serbian industrial park in Smederevo to be completed in 2020 – Jobs for 20,000 people on 400 hectares?
As reported on the official website of the Government of Serbia, in the presence of President Aleksandar Vucic, with a representative of the Chinese province of Hebei, Stevanovic signed the Memorandum of Understanding which pertains to Zelezara and the Protocol of Understanding concerning the construction of the Chinese-Serbian industrial park with the Chinese company HBIS.
He said that HBIS was expected to send a master plan on the industrial park to the Government of Serbia before the end of the month, when it will be specified how many industries will operate within the park.
– I believe that the Chinese-Serbian industrial park in Smederevo will have the capacity to employ 20,000 people, which is of great importance not just for that town, but for the entire district, and also for the budget of the Republic of Serbia – the state secretary said and explained that the signed documents defined the deadlines and the dynamics of the realization of the projects.
The first phase, as he said, will be completed in the next two years, and the second one in 2021 and 2022.
According to him, sophisticated equipment for the mechanical and the electro industry and construction materials will be produced in the industrial park, on close to 400 hectares, and the park will also feature the green energy industry and the production of components for cars running on new types of fuels.
He added that work-intensive projects will be present as well, while those capital-intensive ones will be developed in parallel, which is very important for the economic growth of Serbia, the website of the Government of Serbia reports.
