Telekom Srbija considers new acquisitions – Focus on operators in Serbia and Republika Srpska

– Telekom Srbija has reduced its debt significantly in the past few years and now is the time time for a new investment cycle, the CEO of the company Predrag Culibrk said during Digital 2018, a conference focused on new telecommunications and digital trends.

He said that Telekom Serbia considers ICT, IT and exclusive content for multimedia platforms as important innovation opportunities although telecommunications infrastructure is still the mainstay of company's operation.

In the traditional telecom leaders in the region panels for CEOs, Culibrk said that Telekom Srbija installed 24,000 km of fiber optic network cables in 2017 in order to get closer to customers and offer them the latest technical solutions ad he added that in 2017 the number OF 4G base stations was almost doubled.

Culibrk also pointed out that the company has reduced its debt significantly in the last few years and that the conditions are right for new investment cycle after previous investments and acquisitions in the region.

– We are considering acquiring telecommunication operators in Serbia and Republika Srpska where we are already offering multimedia services, with the intent on improving our market position in the field of multimedia services. Our investments in media content are connected with this, Predrag Culibrk said. He added that Telekom Serbia, that is, sport channel Arena Sport has secured coverage for UEFA Champions League and Italian Serie A for the next three years.

According to Culibrk, Telekom Srbija has lately been focused on ICT and IT , noting that the company started from scratch in those fields and that now 1% of the company revenue comes from those business sectors even though other companies that have been around for decades dominate those fields.

– We are looking to enter the ICT through various partnerships and cooperation with major companies in the field such as VMware, Miscrosoft, SAP SE. We think about that market in terms of connecting all our services in that segment and the experience Telekom Srbija has,a s company that employs more than 1,000 engineers who develop and maintain one of the most complex systems in the region, Culibrk said.
