Construction of Ruma–Sabac highway and Sabac-Loznica high-speed route to start in first half od 2019?

The construction of the Ruma – Sabac highway and a high-speed route between Sabac and Loznica which Azerbaijani company Azvirt will work on, could start as early as the first half of 2019 , it was concluded at the first session of the working group for the project realization.

– Serbia and Azerbaijan have a friendly, economic relationship and the work we are about to start represents the continuation of the agreement the presidents of the two countries reached. The Ruma-Sabac-Loznica high-speed route project is of great importance for Serbia. The working group is tasked to prepare the conditions for project realization and make sure it gets done on time, said the Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia, and the Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure who presided over the group meeting.

She added that in the next period they will simultaneously work on concluding the agreement regarding the project financing and completing the project technical documentation which would include Azvirt, the cabinet of the deputy PM announced.

Ambassador Of Azerbaijan To Serbia, H.E. Eldar Hasanov, said that they made the decision to grant EUR 210 million loan to Serbia and that Azerbaijani side was ready to help prepare the project technical documentation .

He thanked the deputy PM for her “dynamics and energy that present a huge support to project realization."



The Ambassador and the Minister concluded that the construction could begin in the first half of 2019.

New highway which will connect Ruma, Sabac and Loznica would branch out of the high-speed route between Novi Sad and Ruma and is a part of the Fruska Gora Corridor.

The total length of this route is 80km, out of which Ruma- Sabac highway takes up 25 km and Sabac- Loznica high speed route takes up 55 km.

Serbia and Azerbaijan signed the Agreement on economic ant technological cooperation in 2012 with the goal to advance bilateral economic and technological cooperation including the collaboration in the development sector, preparing project studies and realization of infrastructural projects.
