Serbia and Republika Srpska sign memorandum on construction of two hydro power plants on Drina headwaters – Value estimated at EUR 200 million
These are HPP Foca and HPP Paunci, and Serbian Minister of Mining and Energy says that each power plant will have 90 to 95 MW of power and that what follows now is to complete the documentation and have talks regarding the financing.
– One of the topics that marked today's session of the two government is the agreement on cooperation in energy, which is extremely important for our cooperation in total – Antic told the press.
It was specified, he says, for the project to be jointly developed by Elektroprivreda Republike Srpske and EPS, and the agreement is for the documentation for HPP to start being completed as soon as this September, while Antic claims that it is largely complete.
– When it comes to HPP Foca, there are still several steps that need to be realized in order for Elektroprivreda Republike Srpske to file a request for the concession, which is the basis for the further development of the project, as soon as possible, and we hope that it can be realized this year – Antic said.
In the meantime, he added, EPS and Elektroprivreda Srbije continue to work on completing the documentation and forming a joint company which will develop that project.
– We will continue talking about projects on other parts of the river Drina, but we are now initiating the first big joint energy projects, which I believe are of great importance for the state of energy in Republika Srpska and Serbia – Antic emphasized.
