Applications for first rating of rakijas made in Sumadija by August 31 – Aiming to protect brand name and designation of geographic origin

The Kragujevac-based association Sumadijska Rakija is organizing the first official rating of the quality of fruit rakijas of registered producers in early September, Poljoprivrednik reports.

The association, which brings together 14 distilleries, aims to have the rakija produced in this part of Serbia get a brand name and a protected designation of geographic origin, as well as to have the drink positioned as a regional brand.

Interested producers should send filled-out forms to “Regionalna Asocijacija Sumadijska Rakija” at 22 Kralja Petra Prvog Street or by sending an email to sumadijskarakija@gmail.com.

Applications may be sent by August 31.

The rakija will be rated by the biggest experts in the field in Serbia, and the medals will be awarded on September 8, at the Sumadija Fair, on the penultimate date of the Sumadija Agricultural Fair.
