According to the deputy mayor of Pirot, Hotel StarA with a sports court on Stara Planina has been sold to the company owned by NBA star Nikola Mirotic. The former owner, Tigar Pirot, however, has not yet confirmed this, nor has the ownership structure been changed at the Business Registers Agency.

Tigar AD did not say anything about the sale of the hotel, because their executive director was not at work, but the Town of Pirot has confirmed the change of the ownership.

Deputy Mayor Vidojko Panajotovic says that this helps continue the development of tourism on Stara Planina.

– I’m glad that this has happened. It’s important for us to stop the hotel from getting dilapidated. We are also glad that the buyer is Nikola Mirotic, who comes to Pirot every summer, since his wife is from the nearby village of Slavinje – Panajotovic said.

Hotel StarA is located 12 km away from Pirot in a nature park and is known for being the place where the national junior basketball team of Yugoslavia trained for the 1987 FIBA Under-19 World Championship in Bormio, Italy.
