South Korea to provide Serbia with EUR 200,000 for creation of smart cities
Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government Branko Ruzic thanked the delegation of the Government of South Korea yesterday for all the help the state had provided to Serbia in the process of the modernization and the digitization of the operations of the public administration.
Ruzic reminded that one of the first activities he had undertaken upon assuming office was to sign an agreement with the National Information Society Agency of the Republic of Korea (NIA).
The minister said that, with the opening of the Information Access Center, NIA had enabled the training of 7,000 people in 200 courses and workshops in under a year.
He added that memorandums on cooperation with the Republic Geodetic Authority and the Ministry of Culture and Information had also been signed.
According to him, a free summer IT school was organized through the “Volunteers of Korea” project, successfully finished by 700 people this summer. In addition to programming, the curriculum also included courses on Korean culture.
Digitization is among the main priorities of this Government and, considering that the number of residents in cities will double by 2050, we need to start thinking about the ways to work faster as an administration, which is impossible without the implementation of new technologies, Ruzic said.
