The ministers of trade and agriculture of Serbia, Rasim Ljajic and Branislav Nedimovic, talked to Turkish ministers of agriculture and trade, Bekir Pakdemirli and Ruhsar Pekcan, on Wednesday, August 1, 2018, in Ankara, asking for an increase in quotas for the duty-free export of beef by an additional 5,000 tons.

As the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications of Serbia announced, the Turkish side accepted the request in principle, and the final answer will be known after consultations are held within institutions in Ankara.

The ministers also discussed the possibility of getting quotas for the export of beef with bones, so far not included in the free trade agreement, which, as announced, the competent ministries of the two countries will continue negotiating about.

The Turkish ministers pointed out that they would accelerate the ratification of the Free Trade Agreement, which is expected to take place by the end of October, so that other products could be exported under the duty-free agreement as well.
