The German company Vorwerk today started raising its car component plant in Preljina near Cacak, where over 1,000 people will be employed.

The value of the investment exceeds EUR 50 million, and over 40,000 square meters of production space will be built this year, whereas the plan is for the facility to expand to around 65,000 square meters in the next six years.

The factory will feature a testing center, and workers will be trained in Germany and Poland.

Vorwerk CEO Jurgen Moller said that Cacak was an excellent choice for the investment of the company, which plans to employ more than 1,000 workers in Serbia in the future.

He said that the Cacak plant would feature the most modern equipment and that components for the most renowned car brands would be produced there. He added that a test run at the plant was expected to start before the end of the current year.

Vorwerk Group owner Peter Collen reminds that this is a family company based in Wuppertal, Germany, which has operated for nearly 200 years.

– Nowhere in the world has the location for our factory been secured so fast – Collen said and thanked Cacak town authorities that they had named the street where the factory is located after him.

The laying of the foundation stone for the Vorwerk plant was attended by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, who said that it was the first big investment in Cacak in the past 35 years.

– This is not just beneficial to Cacak, but to the surrounding places as well and to the entire Moravica District and the state – he said and added that total direct foreign investments in Serbia in the first five months of 2018, amounting to EUR 1.16 billion, showed that Serbia is attractive to investors and that it featured ever improving business conditions.
