The European Commission has approved the purchase of the Austrian low-cost airliner Laudamotion by the Irish airliner Ryanair.

Rayanair will thereby be able to take over 75% of Laudamotion, the airliner formed from Austria’s Niki, an ex-subsidiary of Air Berlin.

Laudamotion mostly flies from Germany, Austria and Switzerland to tourist destinations in the Mediterranean and the Canary Islands.

It is not known how much Ryanair will pay for Laudamotion.

Let us remind that Ryanair announced in late March that it would set aside slightly under EUR 50 million for a 75% stake and an additional EUR 50 million for investments.
