Five interested bidders have applied for the tender for the reconstruction of the Karadjordjeva Street and the Sava Wharf.

By the noon of July 11, five bids were sent to the Belgrade Land Development Public Agency, each by a group of potential contractors. The winner will be known in two weeks, after the bids are examined by experts.

The tender was placed on May 7, and the bid submission deadline was extended as many as four times.

One group of bidders is headed by Austria's Strabag, which won the tender for the reconstruction of the Republic Square two days ago, and which should start in late August. Another group is headed by MBA Ratko Mitrovic Niskogradnja, which is in charge of the reconstruction of Slavija. The remaining three consortia are headed by Trace PZP Nis, Energoprojekt Niskogradnja and RAS Inzenjering Niskogradnja.

The price offered is one of the criteria, but workforce and technical capacities will be considered as well.

The works in this part of Belgrade will encompass the area from Branko's Bridge to Pariska Street, and new tram track structure should be built in Karadjordjeva Street to the Kalemegdan turning. The works also entail the reconstruction of traffic routes and the construction of pedestrian and bicycle lanes. The development of the Sava Wharf entails the construction of a children's playground, paving, establishment of green areas, public lighting, new street furniture, the construction of a bicycle lane...

After the Branko's Bridge point, the tram tracks will be moved closer to the Sava, and the tram route will also be used by other public transport vehicles. Other vehicles will use one lane each on both sides of the tram traffic island.
