Serbia provided with EUR 5.5 million for planning and modernization of railways – Grants given for Nis bypass route and Macedonian border section

The Western Balkans Investment Framework (WBIF) will support the preparation of the project-technical documentation for the construction of the bypass railway around Nis and the modernization of the Nis-Presevo-Macedonian border railway with a grant of EUR 5.5 million, the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure announced today.

The decision on the financial support to the preparation of the technical documentation for these two projects was reached by the WBIF Steering Committee at the proposition of the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure.

Of the total amount, EUR 2 million is provided for the preparation of the project for the building permit for the single-track bypass railway around Nis, as part of the modernization of the Corridor 10 railway from Nis to Dimitrovgrad.


An amount of EUR 3.5 million is meant for the preparation of a preliminary plan with feasibility studies and environmental impact assessments for the modernization of the Nis-Presevo-Macedonian border railway.
