This September, Serbia will get a new platform for online commerce – Klik 3, launched by the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia and open to all interested companies. Companies and business people that access it will be buyers and suppliers at the same time. Direct trade through this network means lower costs and more efficient procurement.

There are currently around 360 online stores in Serbia and they officially realize revenues of around RSD 9 billion annually. It is estimated that the real volume of online sales, including the grey zone, is up to ten times bigger. An estimate says that e-commerce makes up 3 to 6% of the total retail.

– Electronic transformation means that citizens are able to do business online, at a single click – says Sava Savic, assistant to the Minister of Trade.

– This entails the digitalization, and the Klik 3 network will enable producers and traders to exchange services and goods through a modern platform. At only three clicks, purchasers will be able to get plenty of information electronically. This is an opportunity for all local companies to connect to the platform and reduce the costs of their operations and trade. The producers are announcing that it might become a regional platform in the future. As a commercial platform, Amazon is worth more than all other stores in the U.S.A. combined – Savic added.

The commerce platform currently available in Serbia cover certain segments and product groups. Klik 3 is meant to cover all producers and suppliers in Serbia.

– The potential of this platform is great, as the state will be able to make purchases there, as one of the biggest procuring entities. The platform entails the identification of purchasers, sellers and transactions. The electronic commerce market needs to be regulated so that it provides full protection to its users. It is in line with the latest global standards – Sava Savic says.

– This platform means an upgrade to business and it should contribute to an increase in transactions and demand. The aim is for the operations to spread to the entire region – explains Predrag Nikolic, adviser to the president of the CCIS.

As he said, this is only the first phase of this project. The next step is the implementation of a type of crediting, factoring, where purchasers will make deferred payments, whereas sellers will get the money immediately. As he further explains, companies will need to pass financial control, making it impossible for someone from the grey zone to do trade on the platform.
