Twenty Italian companies at International Agricultural Fair in Novi Sad
As announced by the Embassy of Italy, as part of the promotional initiatives within the fair, a seminar on agricultural mechanization in fruit growing is held on Thursday, May 17, 2018, organized by ICE and including Italian companies and experts in the field.
The excellent trade relations between Italy and Serbia, apparent from the merchandise trade data, which say that Italy is the second biggest partner of Serbia in 2017, with a trade worth a total of EUR 3.9 billion, an increase by more than EUR 200 million compared to 2016, especially pertain to the food and agricultural sector. Italy is the biggest producer of olive oil and pasta and one of the leading EU countries when it comes to the production of wine.
This traditional cooperation between Italy and Serbia is constantly growing on an institutional level as well. This April, the ministries of agriculture of the two countries signed a Memorandum of Understanding in the phytosanitary field. Italy also supports Serbia's efforts to join the EU and the harmonization of the Serbian legal framework with the EU acquis, in part thanks to the existence of two twinning projects in agriculture.
Therefore, the press release says, the International Agricultural Fair in Novi Sad is a very important place for companies operating in Serbia and the Balkans to meet and share their experiences.
