Serbian Minister of Health Zlatibor Loncar talked to Ana Holt, representative of the World Bank in Serbia, on Friday, April 13, 2018, about the continuation of the cooperation and joint activities on reforming and upgrading the health system of Serbia.

Another topic of the meeting, as said on the website of the Government of Serbia, was additional financing of the project called “Second Serbia Health Project”, within which diagnostic equipment for healthcare institutions throughout the country will be procured.

With the procurement of diagnostic equipment through the partnership with the World Bank, new MR devices, CT scanners and ultrasound diagnostic devices, the highest international standards regarding the number of devices and equipment per citizen will be met in the field of radiotherapy in Serbia. A further improvement of the radiotherapy service coverage in Serbia through the procurement of two linear accelerators and a CT simulator for the Institute for Oncology of Vojvodina is also planned.

In addition to the procurement of diagnostic equipment, other components of the project were also defined at the meeting: enhancing financing in healthcare, improving access to quality health protection and strengthening the quality of services, all to the end of further activities of importance to the reform of the health system carried out by the Ministry of Health, it is added.
