Construction of second Meita plant starts in Obrenovac – Investment worth EUR 90 million, jobs for 1,100 people
Mayor of Belgrade Sinisa Mali says that 1,100 new jobs will be created at the new factory, Beoinfo reports.
– Meita currently produces 1.5 million turbo-chargers for Daimler, Ford and other world-renowned car brands, and 1,450 people have already been employed. The capacity of the new plant will be three million turbo-chargers, and it shouldn't be forgotten that all products are to be exported – Mali said.
He said that the investor was more than satisfied with Serbian workers and that it was considering the third phase, the opening of the logistics center, and added that around 200 students of the Technical School in Obrenovac would have secure jobs after they finish school.
The financial manager at the Meita plant, Daniel Chen, thanked the City of Belgrade and Serbia for all the support they have been given since their arrival to Serbia.
– Once the works are completed, a modern facility will be located here, and the total investments for both phases of the works, that is, the construction of both factories, will amount to around EUR 200 million – Chen said.
