Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic pointed out in her conversation with Violeta Bulc, European Commissioner for Transport, that the decision to make Belgrade the seat of the Western Balkans Transport Community was a great acknowledgment of the efforts Serbia has made in connecting the region.

As said on the website of the Government of Serbia, Brnabic emphasized that the choice to make Belgrade the seat of the Transport Community was an important step in carrying out the Transport Community Treaty, signed at the Western Balkans Summit in Trieste, and added that the fact that the decision had been supported by all representatives of the region and the European Union was also of great importance.

– Commissioner Bulc explained that the Transport Community was a formal framework within which the countries of the Western Balkans can dedicate themselves to common projects and use financial mechanisms of the European Union – the Government announced.

According to Violeta Bulc, its establishment is an opportunity for the creation of a single transport market for all the countries of the Western Balkans, and infrastructural connecting is a way to a quicker economic development of Serbia and the entire region.

Bulc also emphasized that the Agreement on the Foundation of the Transport Community entailed the implementation of the EU acquis in the field of transport, a simplification of administrative formalities and a foundation for enhancement of the transport infrastructure.

Brnabic pointed out that Serbia remained dedicated to regional cooperation and economic connecting of the Western Balkans, in the context of which the foundation of the Transport Community has great importance, and once again expressed gratitude for the EU's support in having the seat be located in Belgrade.
