British Albon to open new plant in Ruma – Jobs for another 200 workers
In addition to the factory of components for the automotive industry in Ruma, the British investor also has a factory in Simanovci as well, and the new facility in Ruma would be the third investment of Albon in Serbia, it is reported.
Albon invested EUR 16.5 million in its first facility in Ruma, and the new expansion clearly shows that the company is satisfied with the conditions in Ruma and that it has long-term plans here, stated director of Albon, Ismet Grebovic.
– When we came to Ruma in 2013, we immediately planned for everything to be carried out in two phases. The first phase has been realized. The plan was to invest EUR 9 million in Ruma, and we have invested EUR 16.5 million so far. We are now at the beginning of the next phase, which relates to a production facility which would have 11,000 square meters, and we are planning 200 new jobs, which would make for a total of 400 jobs in Ruma. With the 100 workers in Simanovci, this would make a total of 500 workers – Grebovic said.
He says that the facility, the construction of which should take place next to the existing factory, will be operational in mid-2019.
Albon produces piston rods for auto engines in Ruma, and the new facility will also produce engine components. This year, the company plans to export products worth around EUR 28 million from Ruma.
