A business-political delegation of Jagodina, headed by the president of the municipality of Jagodina, Dragan Markovic Palma, visited three factories in Industrial Zone Cerkezkoy, 100 kilometers west of Istanbul, on March 13, at the invitation of Hasan Gulkaya, the owner of the biggest sock factory in Turkey, Bonysocks.

The City of Jagodina has secured two parcels, of 10 and 5 hectares, with all the necessary infrastructure, in its industrial zone for the Turkish company.

– It only remains for an agreement to be made with the Government of Serbia and we expect to sign an agreement the next time Hasan arrives and for him to start raising a sock factory at which 1,200 people will work. The owner of the door production factory Best Doors, which we also visited today, will accompany him. Another company we visited in Turkey is Hattat, which produces tractors – Markovic said yesterday.

Gulkaya has visited Jagodina three times so far.

– I've bought an apartment in Belgrade and I will buy one in Jagodina as well. That says enough about how seriously my company intends to open a factory in Jagodina, at which 700 workers will be employed in the first phase, and then all 1,200 soon. The factory in Jagodina will be bigger and more modern than the one in Turkey – Gulkaya said and added that they produced 100 million pairs of socks a year, that they exported to 70 countries and that they had 1,200 employees.

Markovic continues his visit to Turkey this Wednesday in Ankara by having talks with the deputy prime minister of Turkey and president of the parliament, and he will also attend a session of Erdogan's ruling party, AK.
