Since last week, the masts at the newly built Kromberg & Schubert factory have been flying the company's flags, the flags of Serbia and Germany. Although the German company has not yet made any announcements, waiting for the opening ceremony, it is known that the city administration of Krusevac has recently issued the exploitation permit for the newly built factory and that several hundred workers are already employed there.

The new Kromberg & Schubert factory has slightly over 24,000 square meters, is located on an area of 2.1 hectares, and will produce car parts, that is, cable systems for the automotive industry. Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic visited the construction site in June 2017 and said that the company's plan was to employ 300 workers in 2017, which was realized, then around 600 more by March 2018, and the another 2,500 in the next five years, “whereas the goal of the Government of Serbia is to have the number of employees grow to 4,000” in the second phase, when the facilities are expected to be expanded by another 12,000 m2.

The value of the realized investment is around EUR 29 million. Of this amount, the Government of Serbia provided incentives of EUR 9.5 million, whereas the local community let the investor use the parcel for free and provided it with infrastructural connections.

Over 4,000 candidates applied at last year's job contest in October 2017, when 400 workers were to be selected. The majority of those who got the job underwent basic training at the Kromberg & Schubert plant in Bitola, whereas those newly employed for special jobs were trained for three to six weeks at the company's factory in the Romanian town of Nadab, close to Arad.

The new factory of the German investor, according to unofficial findings of Politika, should open by late March.
