Makisko Polje good location for Belgrade subway starting terminus? – Project of construction of traffic route presented
As Beoinfo reports, McElligott said that Makisko Polje was important due to the construction of the infrastructure needed for maintenance.
– There are plenty of locations there where a parking lot can be built, and since this is the south side of the city, the subway would “pick up” a large number of passengers before arriving to more densely populated parts of the city – McElligott pointed out.
He believes that the Serbian and the Belgrade public are extremely interested in the subway project and that best solution for problems with traffic is the one that can be most easily implemented in the existing infrastructure.
According to Mayor Sinisa Mali, analyses performed by local and foreign experts have shown that a singe subway line would not considerably unload the traffic.
– Our experts have determined that, in order to solve the key traffic problems, the urban rail network, BG Voz, needs to be expanded and integrated into the first two subway lines – the mayor pointed out, as reported by Beoinfo.
Let us remind that he recently announced that the construction of the first subway line should begin in 2020.
