Reconstruction of Belgrade-Zagreb railway might start in 2019 – Mihajlovic invites Croatian minister to sign protocol
The invitation directly followed the official visit of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic to Zagreb, during which Mihajlovic and Butkovic defined the framework of the protocol and agreed for it to be signed over the next ten days.
It was agreed at the meeting for Serbia and Croatia to apply together for financing from the EU funds for the purpose of preparation of the project documentation and carrying out of the works on this project.
Mihajlovic pointed out that the reconstruction of the Belgrade-Zagreb railway would contribute to an even better infrastructural connecting of Serbia with the region, which is the Government of Serbia's priority and something that it is working on intensively with all its neighbors.
– If we reach all the agreements, I expect the realization of the project to start next year – she said.
The Belgrade-Zagreb railway is located on Corridor 10, and the value of the works on the reconstruction of the railway in the territory of Serbia has been estimated at close to EUR 250 million.
Regarding the Serbian section, the plan is to reconstruct both sets of tracks on the route from Golubinci to Sid, that is, the Croatian border, and to modernize the route from Ruma to Sid, says the press release by the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure.
