The company Infrastructure of the Serbian Railways will invest RSD 1.9 billion in current maintenance of the existing infrastructure in 2018, thereby creating conditions for a safer and more regular transport, the company's director, Miroljub Jeftic, said on January 5. As the press release says, he stated that the goal was to bring down the total length of low-speed sections to below 50 kilometers in 2018.

– An overhaul of 113 kilometers of the Pancevo-Orlovat-Novi Sad railway is in progress, so that regular traffic between Novi Sad and Zrenjanin, to be carried out by new Russian diesel trains purchased with the loan from the Russian Federation, might be established on September 1 – the press release says.

It is added that the overhaul of the railway also creates conditions for freight trains to no longer go down the bypass route around Kalemegdan through downtown Belgrade beginning with June 30, 2018.

As stated, a tender for the overhaul of two sections on the Ruma-Sabac-Donja Brasina-state border is in progress, more precisely, 12 kilometers of the Petlovaca-Lesnica and 11.3 kilometers of the Loznica-Gornja Koviljaca section.

Also, 3.5 kilometers of the Predejane-Dzep section on the Belgrade-Nis-Presevo railway will be overhauled.

The Infrastructure of the Serbian Railway developed a total of 16 railway crossings in the final 2017, which is a priority, according to Jeftic.
