The Ministry of Industry and Trade of Kosovo has temporarily implemented an additional fee of 2 cents per piece on the import of clay tiles from Serbia in order to protect local producers, Beta reports.

In addition to VAT on 12x19x25 and “fer monte” clay tiles imported from Serbia to Kosovo, 2 cents per piece is paid from December 27, Minister Bajram Hasani decided.

The decision published by the Pristina media says that the measure has been taken as it has been estimated that local producers of construction materials – tiles and “fer monte” – needed to be protected.

The Customs Administration of Kosovo is required to carry out this decision and take all measures towards protecting producers of clay construction materials.

The same ministry previously implemented a temporary fee on flour from Serbia. Despite protestations and complaints of the Government of Serbia, the measure is still in effect.
