Swiss resident buys Venecija restaurant in Zemun for RSD 110 million
This restaurant in an exclusive location, in the Kej Oslobodjenja Street, was sold at the second attempt. The initial price on Monday was RSD 95 million for around 350 m2 of the restaurant and a garden of the same size. Venecija was finally sold for 5 million dinars more than its price at the first public auction.
According to initial information, Zuger intends to continue the hospitality tradition of the renowned restaurant in Zemun.
The only competitor to Zuger's representative, lawyer Branislav Popovic, was a representative of Eureka Bar, which has been leasing the restaurant since June 2016. The bidding started at RSD 94.7 million. Both parties were willing to pay RSD 97 million and even RSD 100 million, but the Eureka Bar representative stopped there, whereas Johan Peter Zuger's representative went up to RSD 110 million. Zuger will officially become the owner after the payment of the sales and purchase price and the signing of the agreement.
Former employees, who are among the creditors of Central in bankruptcy, are satisfied with the purchase. Unofficially, they are owed around RSD 60 million, whereas the total debt of the Zemun-based company, after the sale of the Gardos pub, stands at around RSD 140 million.
Johan Peter Zuger, as the Manihaus website shows, has been the director and the authorized representative of the Zurich-based company Drina Consulting since July 2015. The Business Registers Agency of Serbia lists him as the director of Cottonmedic Novi Sad, which deals in production, trade and services, since 2014.
