"Metalfer Steel Mill" from Sremska Mitrovica increased production - annual capacity of 250,000 tons of concrete steel
Company "Metalfer Steel Mill" in Sremska Mitrovica has announced today (September 29, 2008) that the production in the first concrete steel mill in Serbia was increased to 250,000 tons per year.
Executive Manager Branko Zečević said that that production would completely satisfy the local needs and that it would make it possible for Serbia to develop from importer to exporter of concrete steel.
Total value of the investment in concrete steel mill, which was opened last year, is 20m EUR, and total of 220 people work in it.
Zečević announced that the construction of smelter unit for old steel would start at the end of October and that its annual capacity would be 500,000 tons.
- The new units will be finished in one year, which will create jobs for another 200 workers - he pointed out.
In addition to the city of Sremska Mitrovica, construction of the rolling mill was backed by the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development, SIEPA, National Employment Agency and SME Development Agency.
