Representatives of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and the Ministry of Agriculture, as well as the head of the EU Delegation to Serbia, Sem Fabrizi, were presented with the operations of the central facility for waste water treatment in Sabac on Friday, November 17, 2017, Politika reports. On this occasion, it was agreed that the water supply and waste water treatment system had been rounded up in the area.

As State Secretary Ivan Karic pointed out, the treatment of sludge in an environmentally safe and economically efficient manner has thereby been secured.

The construction of the facility was supported by the EU with EUR 10 million. The rest of the money for this project, worth over EUR 18 million, was provided by local self-governments and the state.

This important project for waste water treatment in Serbia enhances water supply on the downstream Sava, and the citizens are provided with a healthier and better living, the Belgrade daily writes.

Let us remind that Serbia obligates to build more than 300 waste water treatment facilities on its way to joining the EU.
