Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said that the state was preparing for a potential privatization of Komercijalna Banka, but that it was not the final decision by the government and that the decision was yet to be made.

– We are still deliberating as to the best solution – the prime minister said and pointed out that the state would certainly be very cautious and that it wouldn't accept just anyone if the process of privatization was initiated.

– We are having daily talks with the co-owners, IFC and EBRD, and we are deliberating about what is in the best interest of the citizens and the state – Brnabic said.

She says that, according to her, privatization is the best option, as the state of Serbia is a minority owner.

– Even if the privatization is initiated, we will be looking for a good strategic partner and, if some of the strongest banks respond, there's a possibility of the Government's selling its share in the bank. Still, we will be cautious in the privatization process and it remains to be seen whether this is in Serbia's best interest in the long term – Brnabic pointed out.
