The EC proposes, among other things, the implementation of a tax scheme which should stimulate the production of vehicles featuring zero or low CO2 emission, BBC reports.
Cars will have to emit 15% less CO2 by 2025 compared to 2021 and 30% less by 2030, the Commission says in its proposition.
– The proposed goal of reducing the emission of CO2 by 30% is ambitious and realistic – the European Commission said.
The latest propositions are part of the EU's efforts to fulfill the promises it has obliged to within the Paris climate agreement.
