A note written by Albert Einstein concerning the secret of happiness was sold at an auction in Jerusalem for USD 1.56 million on October 24, and the pre-auction estimate put the value between USD 5,000 and USD 8,000, the auction house reported online.

The buyer was a European who wished to remain anonymous, the press release says.

The starting price of USD 2,000 for the yellow note featuring the famous scientist's handwriting was far exceeded in only twenty minutes.
