Members of the City Assembly of Belgrade adopted the decision on the public-private partnership for the construction of 4 underground garages in Serbia's capital at the session on Tuesday, September 26, 2017, Beoinfo reports.

This project of public-private partnership is very important, as when the public interest and private capital are combined, it is beneficial to the citizens, Deputy Mayor Borko Milosavljevic said at this session of the City Assembly.

– All feasibility studies have shown that underground garages built under the model of public-private partnership can and do produce results. This is why this model needs to be implemented in Belgrade as well. The project entails the construction of four underground garages in the Studentski Trg St, the Republic Square, the Fruskogorska St and the Vlajkoviceva St and is worth around EUR 40 million – Milosavljevic specified.

The capacities, that is, the number of parking spaces, is 1,830, the deputy mayor added and reminded of the city's strategy to turn the center of Belgrade into a pedestrian zone, for which underground garages are one of the requirements.

– Big infrastructural development projects are a requirement for a better and more attractive business environment in Belgrade. They also stimulate other, complementary industries, which in the end enable the quality of life and labor to improve. One such project are underground garages in Belgrade – Milosavljevic said, and, after a short discussion, the members of the City Assembly of Belgrade adopted the decision.
