The phone book which is believed to have been Adolf Hitler's was sold at the Henry Aldrige & Son auction house in Great Britain for GBP 33,000, twice as much as expected.

The phone book was found in Hitler's office towards the end of WW2 by Captain John Hodge, a British Grenadier. It contains over 200 handwritten names, among which are Heinrich Himmler, Joseph Goebbels, Rudolph Hess, Hermann Goering, Joachim Von Ribbentrop, Reinhard Heydrich, Albert Speer and Albert Bormann and others, Daily Mail reports.

As reported, the initial price for the phone book was GBP 15,000.

– This is a unique piece of history that offers both historians and collectors access to a previously unseen amount of information relating to the highest echelons of one of the most evil regimes in modern history. It really is a who’s who of evil. You pick a bad guy and he is in there. The only person of note who is missing is Adolf Hitler – auctioneer Andrew Aldridge said.

As he explained, although they don't know for certain who the phone book belonged to, it was clearly the property of a very senior Nazi.

– This book is being sold by the family of someone who dedicated a chunk of his career to hunting these individuals – he said.
