Krusevac to reconstruct public lighting through PPP project – Nearly RSD 200 million to be saved
As stated on the City's website, Krusevac is another one in the range of local self-governments in Serbia which have recognized the advantages and the importance of the reconstruction of public lighting through a public-private partnership model, and this will be the biggest project of this type, looking by size.
A consortium of local and foreign companies, headed by Esco Elios from Novi Sad and GGE Esco from Belgrade has been chosen as the private partner, and other members are GGE Druzba Ljubljana, ENEF Belgrade and U Light Kft Budapest, with its branch U Lifght Kft Novi Sad. The general contractors are Keep Light and MEP Inzenjering from Belgrade.
The reconstruction of the public lighting entails the replacement of 12,545 obsolete lighting units with quality LED technology made by Philips and Minel-Schreder in the first phase. The works are planned for this autumn, and the planned reduction of costs of the town of Krusevac for electric energy for public lighting and maintenance is close to 85%.
In addition to new lighting, the city will enhance the feeling of comfort and safety with this project, while realizing considerable savings in power and maintenance, which will allow it to pay a monthly fee to the private partner without incurring debt. The fact that the project allows the city to make financial savings from the start, whereas the private partner fully pre-finances the replacement of lights, is highlighted as its most significant benefit.
The Town of Krusevac will make considerable monetary savings from the first day of the guarantee period, amounting to RSD 199 million for the contracted period of 15 years.
