EIB prepares another EUR 15 million for Serbia – Construction of Nis-Pristina highway possibly to start as soon as 2018
– Half of the amount, EUR 15 million, will be invested within Serbia and we as a bank are ready to support all projects, both the ongoing ones and those planned by the ministry – Negre stated.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic talked to Negre about the results made up till that point in infrastructural projects and the continuation of a successful cooperation.
The construction of ports in Smederevo, Apatin and Belgrade, the modernization of the Nis-Dimitrovgrad railway, the reconstruction of clinical centers, the construction of the Nis-Merdare-Pristina highway and the rehabilitation of the road network in Serbia were some of the topics of the meeting.
– The modernization and reconstruction of the Nis-Dimitrovgrad railway is a project that has been discussed for 20 years. Together with the EIB, we are starting its realization, as Nis is the central point of this part of the Balkans and it needs to be well connected in terms of infrastructure – Mihajlovic stated.
She highlighted the project of the construction of the Nis-Merdare-Pristina highway.
– This is a very important project, which will help the Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija. We have talked to the EIB in order to start building the first section, the one from Nis to Plocnik, as soon as next year – Mihajlovic pointed out.
Negre also said that the bank was familiar with the achievements of the Coordination Body for Gender Equality and and that she was interested in supporting projects aiming to empower women economically and to empower female entrepreneurship.
