Minimum wage in Serbia to be raised to RSD 143 per hour
Following the session of the Social and Economic Council of Serbia, he said that it had been agreed for the minimum wage to be raised by 10%, without increasing tax expenses for employers.
– Minister of Finance Dusan Vujovic promised that employers would not be burdened with additional expenses following the raise of the minimum wage. He explained that it was impossible to raise the minimum wage by more than 10%, as that would collapse the next year's budget – Atanackovic said.
The members of the Social and Economic Council are representatives of the Government of Serbia, trade unions and the Serbian Association of Employers.
The trade unions asked for the minimum wage to be raised from RSD 130 to RSD 154 beginning with 2018, and the SAE's condition was for the non-taxable salary component, currently at around RSD 11,800, to be raised at the same time.
The minimum wage per hour was raised this January from RSD 121 to RSD 130, and the increase in the past five years has amounted to RSD 15.
Around 350,000 workers in Serbia earn the minimum wage of RSD 22,800.
