Prime Minister Ana Brnabic has stated that the Government of Serbia is negotiating the establishment of a regular air route between Belgrade and New Delhi, Wisebroker reports.

She added that the flights would be a natural step forward in connecting the country with strategically important markets, following last year's introduction of the New York route. Also, flights to Beijing are to start this September.

The prime minister didn't hint at whose operator might be in charge of the routes. Serbia and India revised their Air Service Agreement this March. According to this agreement, Indian airlines can fly to any airport in Serbia, whereas Serbian airlines can fly to four destinations in India, including New Delhi and Mumbai.

The last time Belgrade had an air connection with India was in the 1980s, when JAT flew regularly to Calcutta, Wisebroker reports.
