The opening of the facility for the production of car cables has not yet been officially confirmed by the City of Nis, but, unofficially, the city authorities have been discussing it for a long time now.
City councilor Mihajlo Zdravkovic confirmed for Beta that Leoni had completed the construction of the facility at the entrance to Nis and that the installation of the equipment and the machinery was in progress at the moment.
– The facility has 6,000 square meters and will employ 200 workers in the initial phase of operations – Zdravkovic pointed out.
He said that Leoni planned to employ another 800 workers in Nis in 2018 and to have a total of 2,200 workers before 2019.
The German producer of car cables started building the Nis facility in February 2017.
