The public enterprise for airport services Nis Airport has opened a public invitation for the preparation of technical documentation for adaptation and extension of the terminal building. As the invitation states, the goal and purpose of the technical documentation is to be used as the basis for works and adapting and extending the terminal building of the Nis Constantine the Great Airport.

The technical documentation needs to contain a feasibility study, a preliminary design, a project for obtaining a building permit with a positive report on an independently performed technical control, as well as the main design with approval by the Ministry of Internal Affairs regarding the meeting of the fire protection criteria.

Due to an increased amount of air traffic and the consequent increase in the number of passengers and the amount of luggage, the current capacities need to increase and the service quality of the existing terminal of the Constantine the Great Airport needs to be enhanced. The extension of the existing waiting areas should increase the capacities and the comfort, which should enable unobstructed handling of larger amounts of passengers and luggage at the terminal building for a period of several years.

The planned newly built area would amount to around 2,300 m2, and additional check-in counters featuring the conveyor transport system need to be installed. Capacities for security inspection need to be increased as well so as to enable a quicker flow of passengers from the public zone to the secured and restricted zone of the airport.

Capacities for customs and passport control also need to be adequately expanded for simultaneous servicing of three aircraft with an average number of 160 passengers per operation (160 arriving passengers + 160 departing passengers).

The period of servicing departing passengers, including the time needed to register passengers and luggage, security inspection, passport and customs control and the time needed for boarding, should not exceed 2 hours, says the tender documentation.

The bid submission deadline is July 14, 2017, and the opening of the bids is scheduled for the same date.
