June 15-17 Becici to hos Regional economic summit

Traditional summit of finance ministers, governors and directors of tax administration of the countries in the region called "Financial stability of the region in new global environment", organized by the Belgrade weekly NIN, will be held June 15 to 17 in Becici, at Hotel Splendid.Topics of this year's summit are monetary policy of countries in the region, financial inclusion and banks in the region, faster economic growth with healthy finances and lower public debt, as well as tax administration reform and fight against gray economy, according organizer’s statement. The official work of the conference will start June 16 with a panel of governors called "Monetary policy of the countries in the region - between American Federal Reserves and the European Central Bank", on which the Governor of Central Bank of Montenegro Radoje Zugic and president of the Union of Economists of Serbia Aleksandar Vlahovic will have the opening speech.The panel discussion will consider recommendations of governors of central banks from the region to finance ministers on how to better coordinate monetary and fiscal policy, it will focus on the impact of quantitative incentives of ECB on monetary policy, interest rates and local currencies exchange rates in the Western Balkans.
Participants will also exchange views on new policy the FED after victory of Donald Trump, i.e. possible consequences for the world, Euro zone and the region, on whether low inflation is a reason for joy or concern, and they will present experience of the region in solving problematic loans as well as assumption on increase of bank credit activity. Agenda also comprises questions about banking system stability, exposure of the region to potential external shocks, about IMF needs the region, profitability of savings with record low interest rates, regional cooperation of central banks etc. The summit is organized by the Ministry of Finance of Montenegro, the Association of Economists of Serbia and Japan Tobacco International, whose Director of Corporate Affairs and Communications, Goran Pekez, will attend the summit.
